Notebooks
A notebook is the unit of work in Lecture Hat. It holds documents, live subtitle transcripts, chats, flashcards, and practice sets in one place.
Creating a notebook
From your notebook list, create a notebook and name it after the course or project. Each notebook gets its own color and its own knowledge base, so a question asked inside one notebook is answered from that notebook's material only.
Uploading documents
Add material in whichever way is quickest:
- Drag files or a folder onto the document list. A dropped folder keeps its subfolders.
- Use the New menu above the list to upload, or to create a note, flashcard deck, or practice set.
- Import a course with the Canvas extension. See Bringing your Canvas course into Lecture Hat.
Each file is capped at 100 MB. After upload, indexing runs in the background; a document is quotable in chat once it finishes.
Organizing tabs
Opening a document adds a tab. Tabs stay open between visits, and you can drag them to reorder. The tab strip docks on the left, on the right, or across the top, whichever you prefer. Folders in the document list work like folders anywhere else, and search covers every document in the notebook.
Sharing a notebook
The owner can share a whole notebook with another account as an editor or a viewer. Editors can edit existing notes; uploading, renaming, and deleting stay with the owner. Shared notebooks appear in the other person's list marked Shared, and they can leave at any time.
Individual notes can also be shared on their own, including as a read-only public link.
