For institutions
Per-teacher seats, FERPA-aligned data handling, SSO when needed, dedicated support during pilot. Designed for faculty-led adoption, not top-down rollouts.
Our adoption thesis
By developing a streamlined AI notetaking platform that students would want to use, and by empowering professors to have control over how their students are using AI, we hope that every Gertle and Professor Snape can stop side-eyeing each other and focus on learning and teaching.
In practice: we start with one professor and one course. We expand by teacher demand inside the department. We don't replace your LMS — we sit alongside it.
Security & compliance
Lecture Hat gives schools the core controls they expect from an academic AI tool: privacy boundaries, assignment-level AI policy, FERPA-aligned handling, and a clear path to SSO for departments that need it.
Per-class toggle for Strict Privacy mode. Content stays out of analytics; aggregate billing/usage metrics retained.
Full / Hints-only / No AI per assignment. Setting is enforced at the proxy trust boundary, not just the UI.
We do not train AI models on student content. Subprocessor list is public at /subprocessors. Standard DPA available; custom DPA negotiable during pilot.
SAML / OIDC integration available for institutional pilots. Out-of-the-box bulk class invite by email list for smaller deployments.
